Australia’s leading telecommunications and technology installations supplier recognised for supporting veterans
Sydney, 29 March 2018: tech2’s innovative Project Resolve program has been formally recognised by the Australian Government for the impact it is having in the lives of veterans across Australia.
Managing Director Glen Powys, a former Australian Army officer, said it was an honour for tech2 to be a finalist in the 2018 Prime Minister’s Veterans’ Employment Awards for the Large Business category. “It is a privilege to support Australian veterans in their transition to the private sector, specifically the growing telecommunications and technology industries, and we look forward to continuing this involvement in the years to come. Our veterans are talented, trainable and trustworthy and continue to make a valuable contribution to society.”
Project Resolve has provided opportunities for more than 120 veterans across New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia since its inception in May 2017. The majority of these veterans have now successfully retrained to form part of tech2’s substantial workforce involved in the deployment of Australia’s NBN.
Participants first undergo a tailored 10-week training program, where they complete prerequisite WHS, first aid, project-specific and on-site installation training, all under the guidance of experienced technicians and supervisors.
At the end of the course, veterans are encouraged to pursue opportunities as tech2 field partners for the company’s telecommunications division or as technicians within the technical services group. For those who want to start their own business, tech2 offers assistance packages for tools and equipment, vehicles and business set-up advice.
Project Resolve has been specifically designed to accommodate the ever-changing needs of veterans around Australia and is setting the benchmark for the employment of veterans in the telecommunications industry and across the private sector.
